George McGovern's 90th Birthday Bash

AP110122045914.jpgWhen George McGovern turns 90, it's going to be a big deal.

A birthday party thrown in honor of the former Democratic senator and one-time presidential nominee will be held Thursday night at the Newseum. The World Food Program USA is throwin' the bash, given McGovern's work on hunger issues.

Members such as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro are expected to show up.

Former Republican senator and presidential nominee Bob Dole will also be there, as he and McGovern became buddies after years of working together hunger issues. The duo won the 2008 World Food Prize for an international school feeding program. And maybe there will be a cake and some candles for Dole, too -- he turns 89 this week.
