House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon, R-Calif., said he is meeting with Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, late this afternoon to press for a quick resolution to defense sequester cuts before the lame-duck session.
McKeon said he requested the meeting last week after mounting pressure from the defense industry, which is nervous about hundreds of thousands of potential job layoffs.
The chairman said that it would be the first sit-down he has had with the speaker in "a few months," other than in-passing meetings, such as in the cloakroom last week.
