It's Getting Hot in Here: Congressman's Weather-Appropriate Wear

photo 1.JPGIt's difficult to look professional when it's nearly 100 degrees and you're wearing a stuffy suit. But don't be held prisoner to fashion -- there are alternatives. Just ask a southern gentleman.

Take Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga., who hit the House floor today donned in a navy blue and white stripped seersucker suit, with matching navy blue and white saddles shoes to boot.

"Is it hotter than Georgia? No, it's just like Georgia," Barrow said.

Barrow got a head start on tomorrow's Seersucker Thursday, when his colleagues on the Senate side will no doubt show off their own summer threads. The annual tradition began in the 1990s to remind senators how members dressed before the modern marvel that is air conditioning.

Thank goodness for technology.
