Ask a Democratic lawmaker if President Obama is doing enough to help them increase their numbers in Congress and the answer is usually some variation of, "Nope."

But yesterday Obama helped the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee break its online fundraising record with an email sent to the D-trip's email list.

The email, asking supporters to donate $3 or more to help elect a Democratic majority, raised $580,000, according to a DCCC official.

The record breaking haul comes on the heels of last week's Bloomberg and Pew polls showing Democrats leading Republicans on a generic ballot giving Dems a chance to crow about their energized base and improved November prospects.

Check out Obama's email after the jump.
