500 Restaurateurs Hit the Hill Next Week

About 500 restaurateurs will be in Washington next week for the National Restaurant Association's 2012 Public Affairs Conference and to meeting with their state delegations on the Hill.

NRA's Scott DeFife said the Hill meetings, which will mostly take place Wednesday, are not primarily focused on specific legislation but will be more of the "table setting" type. Restaurateurs will talk to their delegations about the industry as an engine of economic growth and job creation.

The NRA members, many of whom are small business owners, will also call on lawmakers to provide tax and regulatory certainty and clarify how the health care law will be handled after the Supreme Court's decision comes down.

DeFife said that last year the restaurateurs held about 200 meetings with lawmakers and their staffs and that he is expecting about the same number this year.
