Once Podesta Co-Workers, Taylor and Scofield Team Up Again
Back when they were at the Podesta Group, Bob Taylor and John Scofield worked in offices next to each other and regularly teamed up. They both left Podesta in the past year to start their own firms, but they have partnered once again recently to land new clients.
Scofield, now at Shockey Scofield Solutions, and Taylor, the owner of the Defense Consulting Group, filed registrations Friday for three trucking companies - Boyle Transportation, Baggett Transportation and R&R Trucking - that want strong safety standards for transporting sensitive material, including missiles, guns and ammunition. Scofield is a House veteran, while Taylor has Senate experience, so they teamed up to offer the clients a more bicameral force.
"You can move on, but you still have your relationships and friendships," Scofield said.
They both told the Alley that one of the hardest parts of starting a new firm is handling administrative and compliance work, from figuring out an invoice system to filing lobbying forms. They also emphasized how much they learned in their years at Podesta, but said they've enjoyed setting out on their own.
"It's a great adventure of independence," Taylor said.
