Loebsack Vows "Never" to Become a Lobbyist

My colleague Billy House reports:

Democratic Rep. Dave Loebsack of Iowa has put into writing, in a press release no less, what he describes as a "vow" that he will never become a lobbyist. As he sees it, "far too often people come to Washington just to cash in." He won't be among them, insists Loebsack.

"That's why I vow to never follow in the footsteps of so many others and engage in lobbying as a way to cash in on having served the people of Iowa," he wrote.

And he also wants to ban other members of Congress from ever doing so. He's signed on as a cosponsor of a bill that would impose a lifetime lobbying ban on former lawmakers.
