Two Democrats Joining Dewey Square Group

The public affairs firm Dewey Square Group has hired two Democrats: John Giesser, who will join the shop as chief operating officer, and Ellen Moran, who is coming on as a principal.

Giesser, who worked for DSG from 1994 to 1997, has served as executive director of Sen. John Kerry's Keeping America's Promise PAC and as CEO of the grassroots tech shop Spoken Hub. He is taking the place of  AJ Donelson, who is departing DSG to start a global advocacy and communications firm.

Moran is the chief of staff at the Commerce Department and the former Obama White House communications director. She has also worked for EMILY's List and the AFL-CIO. She starts at DSG on Dec. 28.
