Laura Bishop has been promoted from senior director of government relations to vice president of government relations at Best Buy, the retailer announced today. Bishop has been and will continue to be based in Minneapolis.

Best Buy has increased its lobbying spending each of the last 10 years, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. It has spent $1.48 million in 2011, compared to $1.26 million in 2010 and $900,000 in 2009.

Bishop, who has been at Best Buy since 2003, previously worked for the Clinton administration in the State and Education departments after starting her career on Capitol Hill.
