Chris Frates On Power, People And Influence From Capitol Hill To K Street

Oxfam Pulls SupComm Stunt

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... Oxfam America?

Representatives of the humanitarian organization were outside the Capitol today, wearing capes and masks of Super Committee members. (Here's a picture.)

Their message: Super Committee lawmakers will be superheroes if they preserve foreign aid as they try to cut over $1 trillion from the federal budget.

"We wanted it to have a positive message," Linda Delgado, Oxfam's director of government affairs, told the Alley. "We thought it would be funny, and encourage them to be superheroes."

The real Super Committee members were in the middle of their third public hearing as their likenesses were outside the Capitol, trying to avoid a black-clad villain, "Myopic Cuts."
