Coming Soon: An Orrin Hatch Super PAC?

Several Republicans operatives are close to launching an independent expenditure group to help Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch scare off potential primary challengers with television ad buys in support of Utah's senior senator.

"Because of what happened to Bob Bennett, there are political operatives in D.C. who are discussing how to put together a Super PAC to try to prevent the same thing from happening to Hatch," said a source involved with GOP senatorial campaigns.

Bennett, Utah's junior Republican senator, was defeated last year Tea Party darling and now-Sen. Mike Lee.
