Colbert Busch Releases Second TV Ad

March 15, 2013

Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch released her second TV ad Wednesday in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District special election to replace now-Sen. Tim Scott. The ad focuses on her connection to the state and experience creating jobs.

"I'm running for Congress to create jobs in South Carolina," Colbert Busch says in the ad. "That's what I know."

The concentration on jobs is similar to the first TV ad her campaign released last week, but it also highlights Colbert Busch's personal narrative and touches on her emphasis on math and science education. The ad's narrator calls her a "mother, grandmother, wife and a Charleston businesswoman for 25 years."

Colbert Busch is running in a district that Mitt Romney carried by 18 points, and the new ad, like her first, does not mention her party.

Catherine Christman, Colbert Busch's communications director, said the ad was airing throughout the district, but declined to discuss how long the ad would be running or the size of the ad buy.

Colbert Busch has about $208,630 cash on hand, as of her last filing with the Federal Election Commission. She is widely viewed as the frontrunner in the March 19 Democratic primary against Ben Frasier, who has yet to file his pre-primary report with the FEC. The Republican primary, meanwhile, will feature a 16-candidate field.
