Grassley: Assume Conspiracy Theory Dead

Sen. Chuck Grassley's Twitter feed has been known to document many things, among them the concerns of the constituents who show up to his frequent townhall meetings. So what's weighing on the minds of Iowa voters? Well, among other things, UFOs.

"33ppl at Chariton town hall," Grassley tweeted earlier this week. "Topics:Farm bill, Dodd-Frank,Medicare/EPA regs, immigration, UFOs, F&F, guns, sequester, CRP."

Grassley's press secretary, Beth Levine, explained the UFO discussion in an email. "At one of the meetings, a constituent asked the Senator why the information about UFOs hadn’t come out... Why was the government covering it up?" she said. "Senator Grassley explained that with the transparency in government, a free press, whistleblowers, the fact that Washington can’t keep a secret, etc., he just doesn’t believe that the government is covering up the existence of UFOs."

With that cleared up, Iowa residents -- if not Iowa deer -- can breathe a little easier.
