Cowboys Fan Christie Counts Hall-of-Fame QB Among Donors

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is making a habit of winning over his childhood idols. First, Bruce Springsteen heaped praise on the governor in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. And last month, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach donated $3,800 to Christie's reelection bid.

Despite his Jersey upbringing and regular references to the "New Jersey Giants," Christie is a Dallas Cowboys fan. In a 2010 interview with the Newark Star-Ledger, he credited Staubach with attracting him to the Cowboys.

Christie said in November that he wept after meeting Springsteen. While the Cowboys are no strangers to crying in recent years, there's no word yet on whether Staubach's generosity caused Christie to shed a few tears.
