Sandi Jackson: "I am not a candidate for Congress"

Yesterday, we called Chicago Alderwoman Sandi Jackson the "x-factor" in the special election to replace her husband, former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. But Jackson told reporters Monday that she intends to remain in her City Council seat, saying she wouldn't resign unless "something catastrophic happens." The Chicago Tribune:

"I will finish my term. I intend to finish my term," Jackson added. "Unless something catastrophic happens — I could step outside and get hit by a bus today."

...

But Jackson said she is certain she will not become a candidate in the 2nd Congressional District special election to replace former Rep. Jackson.

"No. I am not a candidate for Congress," Jackson said. "I intend to remain an alderman."

She further said she wasn't sure yet which candidate she would support in the special election.
