DeMint Predicts Haley Announcement Today, Her Office Says No

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., predicted this morning that Gov. Nikki Haley would announce her choice to replace him today, and told the Charleston Post & Courier he hoped she would look to the state's congressional delegation.

But before anyone gets too excited -- Haley spokesperson Rob Godfrey then tweeted, "No U.S. Senate appointment news today."

The Post & Courier:

DeMint said he called Haley to tell her he was resigning, adding, "I've not called her since, and I'm not pressuring her in any way. ... I'm convinced we share the same philosophy. We have a great Congressional delegation, and I hope she looks at those folks."

...

"We'll probably hear today who that is," DeMint said. "I'm convinced that is a person who is as good or better than Jim DeMint."

DeMint reportedly favors GOP Rep. Tim Scott to replace him when he resigns in January.
