Barbara Buono Looking to Hire Campaign Manager in New Jersey

New Jersey Democratic state Sen. Barbara Buono may not have formally announced a gubernatorial bid yet -- but she is looking to hire a campaign manager, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. The Star-Ledger:

On Sunday, Buono traveled to California for the annual winter meeting of the Democratic Governors Association, an influential national organization that would love to unseat Gov. Chris Christie.

A day earlier, the 59-year-old Buono posted an advertisement seeking a campaign manager on an online job board that caters to Democratic politicians.

"A progressive Democratic gubernatorial candidate is seeking an experienced campaign manager for an aggressive campaign plan," the advertisement on a Google group read.

Reached Monday in California, Buono would not comment on the advertisement, saying only that she was "doing all the things someone would do when considering a run for governor."

Newark Mayor Cory Booker would presumably be the Democratic frontrunner for the nomination to face GOP Gov. Chris Christie in 2013, but he is still weighing whether to run and is expected to decide this month.

Meanwhile, a Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press Poll released Tuesday shows Christie looking in great shape heading into his reelection bid: 69 percent of registered voters approve of the job he's doing, while 22 percent disapprove. And 61 percent say he deserves a second term.
