Rouzer Requests Recount in North Carolina

North Carolina GOP state Sen. David Rouzer has requested a recount in the state's 7th District, where he trails Democratic Rep. Mike McIntyre by just 655 votes.

“Considering this is the closest Congressional race in the country and in light of the irregularity previously found in Bladen County, which significantly reduced the vote margin at that time, I have decided to request a mandatory recount of the votes cast in the 7th Congressional District as allowed by law," said Rouzer in a statement released by his campaign. "In a race this close, accidental human error could easily change the outcome. It is important to ensure that every legal vote cast is properly and accurately counted.”

Rouzer had until noon today to request a recount.

Now that Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., has conceded his race to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, this is the last uncalled House race after the election.

Additionally, GOP Reps. Charles Boustany and Jeff Landry of Louisiana are slated to compete in a December 8 runoff.
