Poll: Kaine Leads Allen By 3 in Virginia Senate Race

Tim Kaine has a 3-point lead over Republican George Allen just days away from the election in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll.

Kaine has 49 percent support in the poll to Allen's 46 percent, with 4 percent of voters undecided. Their previous poll, conducted in early October, had Kaine edging Allen 47 percent to 46 percent.

Kaine leads among women, 52 percent to 42 percent, while Allen leads among men, 51 percent to 45 percent. The poll has each getting 46 percent support from independent voters.

The new poll also shows President Obama with a slight edge over Mitt Romney: He leads 48 percent to 47 percent.

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll was conducted November 1 and 2, surveying 1,165 likely voters. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 2.9 percentage points.
