Kelly Ward Promoted to DCCC Executive Director

Kelly Ward has been promoted to Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee executive director, DCCC chair Steve Israel announced Thursday.

Israel, who is staying on at the committee for another cycle, praised Ward in a statement. "Kelly brings the right mix of smart political instincts and experienced leadership to aggressively take on this Tea Party Republican majority,” he said.

The current executive director, Robby Mook, is stepping into a new gig, running Terry McAuliffe's campaign for governor of Virginia.

Current DCCC communications director Jesse Ferguson was also promoted to deputy executive director (he'll also remain communications director). And the DCCC's national finance director Missy Kurek was named deputy executive director for finance.

"Kelly, Jesse and Missy will lead a strong team of leaders who will take the fight to districts all across the country," Israel said.
