The Elusive Joe Donnelly

October 11, 2012

Apparently, Joe Donnelly can be tough to identify.

BuzzFeed reports that Indiana GOP Senate nominee Richard Mourdock has been tweeting attacks at the wrong Joe Donnelly.

Donnelly has 2 accounts: A campaign account (@JoeforIndiana) and an official account (@RepDonnelly). But Mourdock's campaign, rather than tweeting at either of his opponent's accounts, has been tweeting at @JoeDonnelly, a guy with 21 followers whose tweets are protected.

But this isn't the first time Mourdock and his allies have mistakenly gone after someone uninvolved in the campaign, thinking they were targeting Donnelly.

In August, the Indianapolis Star reported that a tracker hired by the Indiana GOP to videotape Donnelly was accidentally following a judge instead. The judge, fearing for his safety, went to the police.
