Rehberg Raises $2.4 Million

Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., raised a solid $2.4 million during the third quarter in his Montana Senate contest, narrowly outraising Democratic Sen. Jon Tester.

Rehberg finished September with $1.7 million in the bank. Tester announced a $2.3 million haul last week, and $1.3 million in the bank.

Tester had outraised Rehberg during the previous quarter, pulling in $1.9 million to his opponent's $1.1 million. Tester finished the second quarter with $3.6 million in the bank to Rehberg's $2.7 million.

But both candidates should have the money they need for the home stretch in Montana, where airtime is relatively inexpensive -- and where both sides are getting substantial outside help over the airwaves.

The Montana race remains extremely close four weeks from Election Day.
