Okla. House Nominee to Deliver Weekly GOP Address

October 11, 2012

House Speaker John Boehner has tapped Markwayne Mullin, the Republican nominee in Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District, to deliver the GOP's weekly address Saturday.

"Markwayne Mullin has run a business and created jobs, and he understands the need to shut down the jobs-destroying red tape factory in Washington, DC.," Boehner said Thursday in a release announcing the selection.

Running in a district viewed by the GOP as a prime pick-up opportunity, Mullin is favored over Democratic nominee Rob Wallace in the race to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Dan Boren. Mullin runs the largest plumbing service in Oklahoma, according to the release.

He is the second GOP House nominee Boehner has chosen to deliver the weekly address. Vernon Parker, the Republican nominee in Arizona's 9th Congressional District, did the honors on Sept. 29.
