McMahon Contribution to Campaign: $27 Million

If Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., is feeling bad for himself given his opponent Tom Smith's $17 million in self-funding, perhaps he can look to Connecticut's Senate contest to feel a little better: Turns out Smith's contribution to his campaign is dwarfed by the money former WWE CEO Linda McMahon has put in to make it a race with Democratic Rep. Chris Murphy.

McMahon loaned her campaign more than $14 million in the third quarter, bringing her total contribution to her war chest up to $27 million for the cycle.

It comes on top of the $50 million of personal wealth she dropped on an unsuccessful Senate bid in 2010.

McMahon also raised over $1.6 million from others during the third quarter and ended September with about $1 million on hand -- but it seems like a very safe bet she'll pony up some more money for the home stretch.

Murphy reported raising more than $3 million and finishing the quarter with about $2.2 million on hand. Outside groups have begun helping him, but he's been outspent and will continue to be outspent by McMahon in the close race.
