Dalton, McCrory Debate on Presidential Debate Nights

Okay, who scheduled North Carolina's gubernatorial debates?

Democratic Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton and former GOP Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory will meet tonight for their second televised debate -- the same night as the second presidential debate.

And their first televised debate? It was on the same night as the first presidential debate, on Oct. 3.

In fairness, tonight's debate is scheduled for 7 p.m., and will end prior to the start of the debate between President Obama and Mitt Romney. The last one was also at 7 p.m. Still, it's tough to get attention on a night when America -- and certainly the press -- is fixated on another event.

The third and final debate in the race is scheduled for Oct. 24 -- a night free of presidential debates! McCrory is favored to win the governor's race.
