Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., announced Monday that his campaign raised more than $1.5 million during the third quarter. He finished September with a robust $5.2 million in the bank.
With just over three weeks until Election Day, Casey finds himself in a surprisingly competitive race for reelection. After leading by double-digits throughout the summer, recent polls have shown GOP nominee Tom Smith pulling within single digits.
Smith has not released his third quarter numbers yet, but the former coal mining executive has already poured millions of his personal fortune into his campaign. Smith has significantly outspent Casey on television up to this point.
