Allen Brings in $3.4 Million

Virginia GOP Senate nominee George Allen announced raising more than $3.4 million during the third quarter, a hefty amount but one that lagged Democratic opponent Tim Kaine's haul by over $1 million.

Allen's campaign finished the quarter with more than $2.5 million in the bank, substantially more than Kaine's $1 million -- but as we mentioned earlier this morning, the Democrat's number doesn't include $3 million recently purchased in fall advertising.

Outside groups have also been pouring money into the race, which has long been one of the tightest in the nation, but where recent polls show Kaine pulling ahead.
