Stabenow Unveils First TV Ad

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., released her first television ad of her reelection race Monday, a positive spot that touts her record on China.

The commercial features Michael "Chet" Chetcuti, CEO of Southeast Michigan-based company American Expedition Vehicles and Quality Metalcraft. "At American Expedition Vehicles, we have over 500 employees and their jobs are in jeopardy due to counterfeit parts coming out of China," he says.

"That's why Debbie Stabenow wrote the bill cracking down on unfair Chinese trade violations and currency manipulation that hurt American businesses," the announcer replies. Chetcuti then says Stabenow "understands the threat of counterfeit products coming out of China," and is working with companies like his across the state, "saving manufacturing jobs."

Stabenow's opponent, former GOP Rep. Pete Hoesktra, also focused -- rather notoriously -- on China in his first ad earlier this year.

Stabenow looks well-positioned for the fall campaign, with a recent poll showing her up by double digits.
