In an indication she's not too worried about money issues in her own campaign, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., sent out a fundraising pitch Wednesday for fellow Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. On the same day Rick Santorum and Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., voiced their support for McCaskill's opponent, GOP Rep. Todd Akin, Klobuchar asked her supporters to "help my friend Senator Claire McCaskill."
Klobuchar likely won't suffer too much by diverting some of her followers' money to a more competitive race: Her cash on hand at the end of the last reporting period exceeded $5 million, while her opponent, state Rep. Kurt Bills, had less than $6,000. The link included in Klobuchar's email offers recipients the opportunity to donate to her campaign or McCaskill's -- or to split a donation evenly between the two.
Meanwhile, Klobuchar also hit the campaign trail -- in Iowa, for congressional candidate Christie Vilsack.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., also a safe bet to keep her seat, has raised money -- via email and at events -- for a number of congressional candidates.
