Ariz. House Nominee Parker to Deliver GOP Weekly Address

House Speaker John Boehner announced Thursday that Vernon Parker, the GOP nominee in Arizona's new 9th Congressional District, will deliver the party's weekly address to the nation this Saturday.

"Vernon Parker is an independent thinker and a rising star in the Republican Party who is committed to listening to the people of Arizona and restoring the American Dream," Boehner said in a statement. "I'm sure Vernon will do a great job outlining what is at stake in this election, and I'm looking forward to hearing his address."

Parker, who is African-American and a former mayor and council member in Paradise Valley, Ariz., is running against former Democratic state legislator Kyrsten Sinema in a suburban toss-up seat east of Phoenix.
