While the NRSC has been forced to spend the last several days dealing with the fall-out from Rep. Todd Akin's, R-Mo., controversial comments on rape, the committee ended the week on a positive note: announcing that it out-raised the DSCC last month.
The NRSC raised $6 million in July, while its Democratic counterpart brought in $5.84 million over the same time period.
The DSCC remains on top in overall fundraising for the cycle and in cash on hand. The Democrats have raised $83.6 million for the cycle and finished July with $32.4 million in the bank. The NRSC has brought in $75 million to date and finished the month with $27.2 million cash on hand.
