Mike Huckabee, Durant's Fairweather Friend

Better late than never?

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee just endorsed Michigan Senate candidate Clark Durant... one day prior to Tuesday's GOP primary contest. Durant could have used the support earlier in the race, as he lags behind frontrunner Pete Hoesktra ahead of tomorrow's primary -- and it begs the question, why even bother this late in the game?

Huckabee originally endorsed GOP candidate Gary Glenn in the race, but Glenn dropped out and threw his support to Durant on July 19.

"Huck PAC and I are proud to endorse Clark Durant for the United States Senate from Michigan," said Huckabee in a statement posted on his PAC's website. "Clark is the clear choice in this race, he is a principled conservative. Clark has a history of finding innovative solutions in the private sector, and his work with Cornerstone Schools in Detroit is a perfect example how he can find solutions when others have tried and failed. Clark is solidly pro-life, endorsed by Gun Owners of America, and he been out front battling Obamacare and the HHS Mandate."
