Yesterday, National Republicans put the full-court press on Rep. Todd Akin to step aside as Missouri's GOP Senate nominee, with many prominent Republicans (including Mitt Romney) condemning his remarks and some asking him to drop out. Here's some pressure closer to home:
"Akin is a moron," major Missouri GOP donor David Humphreys told the Joplin Globe in an email.
With Akin releasing an apology ad this morning, it looks doubtful he's drop out by today's 5:00 p.m. deadline. But remember, today's deadline isn't the end-all-be-all for this race: Akin could still drop out up to September 25 with a court order.
