Fleischmann Thanks Mayfield, Not Wamp

It seems there's no love lost between Tennessee Rep. Chuck Fleischmann and one of the men he beat in the GOP primary Thursday.

Fleischmann sent out a release Friday in which he thanked two of his three challengers -- even giving a shout-out to dairy mogul Scottie Mayfield's ice cream -- but didn't mention Weston Wamp, his other challenger and son of the 3rd district's former representative.

"I want to thank Scottie Mayfield and Ron Bhalla for their calls of congratulations; both are fine men," said Fleischmann in a statement. "One of my biggest weaknesses is my love of Mayfield ice cream, and I look forward to sitting down with Scottie - hopefully over some milk or ice cream - and talking about the conservative principles and solutions we both believe in."

Apparently, there was no call from Wamp.

Meanwhile, Mayfield had initially refused to concede when the race was called. The Chattanooga Times Free Press:

Still, Mayfield did not officially concede, citing possible irregularities in Hamilton County. He said "someone may have made a mistake" in calculating his third-place finish there. "In every county, I am first or second, except Hamilton County," Mayfield said. "Those are all East Tennesseans. It doesn't make sense. So I've got someone down in Chattanooga saying, 'Hey, this doesn't make sense.'"
