Center Forward Reserves $1.34 Million to Boost Three Blue Dogs
Centrist public policy group Center Forward is reserving $1.34 million in ads for September and October in the districts of three Blue Dog Democrats. The non-profit group has already run issue advocacy ads on behalf of the three -- Reps. John Barrow, D-Ga., Ben Chandler, D-Ky., Jim Matheson, D-Utah -- in June.
All three congressmen face serious challengers in their reelection campaigns. Redistricting was particularly unkind to Barrow.
Center Forward reserved time in Georgia's 12th District from September 10 to 30, for a total of $357,000. The ad buy in Kentucky's 6th runs from October 22 through Election Day, totaling $266,820. And in Utah's 4th District, the $717,075 ad reservation runs from September 10 to 30.
Center Forward's previous ads on the congressmen's behalf focused on spending and deficit reduction (see the June ad in support of Barrow here).
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also recently reserved time in September and October in Matheson and Barrow's districts.
Center Forward, previously called the Blue Dog Research Forum, supports moderates in both parties -- but thus far, most of their money has gone towards Democrats.
