Bob Casey Hits Opponent in New Ad

Just days after releasing his first, positive campaign ad, Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., has pivoted and gone negative. His new television spot hits his GOP opponent, self-funding businessman Tom Smith, on trade.

"My opponent and I just disagree," says Casey while walking on a factory floor. "The one-sided trade deals he supports aren't competition. Tom Smith backs laws that send our jobs to Asia, Central America, South America, everywhere but here. I'll always fight against unfair trade laws."

He goes on to tout his record helping to pass legislation that put tariffs on China.

Casey is in good shape for his reelection bid -- a late July Quinnipiac Univ./CBS News/New York Times poll showed Casey leading Smith 55 percent to 37 percent -- but he is likely trying to define his relatively unknown opponent early on.
