Annals of Fundraising Appeals

Lately, we've looked at some campaigns' attempts at stand-out fundraising emails: There was Sen. Al Franken's brief history of fundraising, and also Rep. Michele Bachmann's frequent "URGENT" cash requests.

Today we bring you another interesting one from the campaign manager of Democratic Army veteran Brendan Mullen, running for the Indiana 2nd District seat Rep. Joe Donnelly is giving up to run for Senate -- using the birth of a child to raise money:

As a young campaign manager, one of the privileges of my job is getting to interact with Brendan and his wonderful family. Even in the chaos of a Congressional Campaign, Brendan sets time aside to be a great father to his first daughter, Lilly.

I'm thrilled to tell you, that he and Suzanne just welcomed their second daughter into the world. Frances Louise Mullen, 6.1 pounds and 19 inches! They are calling her Frankie.

This joyous news reminds me, we can't afford the children parading as leaders in Washington DC, we need mature, common sense leaders like Brendan.

Join Brendan with a contribution of $12 in honor of the day his daughter was born, August 12.

If only Frankie had arrived closer to August 31.
