Shays Raises $531,000

Connecticut Republican Senate candidate Chris Shays raised close to $531,000 during the second quarter, his campaign announced Friday. He did not release his cash on hand total.

Over on the Democratic side, frontrunning Rep. Chris Murphy raised close to $1.2 million during the second quarter. Shays's Republican opponent, 2010 nominee Linda McMahon, has the ability to self-fund.

The primary is on August 14.
