Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., one of the few senators aggressively fundraising out of cycle, raised more than $1 million for the second straight quarter, pushing his cash on hand total over $6 million, a GOP campaign strategist said.
Republican sources described McConnell as coupling his Senate duties with a grueling fundraising schedule with near daily events for 2012 Republican candidates, the NRSC and his own 2014 reelection committee.
The aides said McConnell has raised more than $2.56 million for the National Republican Senatorial Committee this cycle. He has also hosted at least one event for 15 Senate GOP candidates.
