Lingle Raises $1.1 Million; Spends Nearly All of It

Hawaii Republican Senate candidate Linda Lingle had a successful fundraising quarter: she brought in $1.1 million, handily beating Democratic candidate Mazie Hirono's $941,000 haul.

But Lingle only reported $2.3 million in the bank -- not that much more than Hirono's $2 million -- due to a high burn rate. Lingle spent just over a million dollars during the fundraising period.

Lingle had ended the first quarter with nearly $2.3 million on hand, compared to Hirono's nearly $1.7 million.

One thing we know Lingle spent money on during the quarter: launching a cable station to promote her candidacy.
