Democratic Rep. Mazie Hirono leads former Rep. Ed Case by 15 points according to an survey of the Hawaii Senate Democratic primary conducted for the congresswoman's campaign two weeks ago.
Hirono leads Case 53 percent to 38 percent in the poll. Ten percent said they are undecided. Hirono has the support of the state Democratic establishment and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. She's also outraised Case.
The winner of the August 11 Democratic primary is likely to face former Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.
The poll of 488 likely Democratic primary voters was conducted from June 19-21 by Benenson Strategy Group and carries a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percentage points.
