Cruz Internal Poll Shows Him Leading Texas Senate Runoff

Cruz also edges Dewhurst in favorability in the internal poll. Sixty percent of respondents said they have a favorable view of Cruz, while 21 percent said they have an unfavorable view of the former state solicitor general. Fifty-nine percent said they have a favorable view of Dewhurst, but 30 percent of likely voters said they view him unfavorably. Wilson Perkins Allen Opinion Research, the firm that conducted the poll for Cruz's campaign, identified likely runoff voters by calling Texans who voted in the May 29 GOP primary and screening for respondents who said they intended to vote in the runoff. Chris Perkins of WPA verified the results of the poll and the methodology to Hotline On Call. The firm surveyed 750 likely runoff voters, and the poll has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.6 percentage points.
