Brunner's New Ads Respond to Democratic Hits

The second Brunner ad is a less direct -- but perhaps more telling -- response to the Democratic efforts. Democratic energy appear to be geared toward elevating Akin -- who they view as less electable -- through negative ads against Brunner and an ad against Akin that looks more like a positive Republican ad. Brunner's second ad singles out Akin. "Todd Akin went to Washington with the best intentions, but he's lost his way," says the narrator of the anti-Akin spot. Brunner's response suggests the Democratic ads are working, or at least have the potential to work. Meanwhile, don't lose sight of Sarah Steelman amid the Democrats/Brunner/Akin tangle. She could win the three-way Republican race.
