Health Care Debate Impacting Downballot Races

June 27, 2012
Indiana: Who can forget Richard Mourdock's inadvertent release of several videos responding to different possible high court decisions? Not the Colbert Report, which poked fun at it earlier this week. Montana/Washington Governor's Races: Both contests feature attorneys general waging very competitive campaigns. In Washington, Republican Rob McKenna is against the individual mandate portion of the law and signed on to a multi-state suit against the measure. But if the entire law is struck down, look for Democrats to lump McKenna in with conservatives celebrating the dismantling of the entire thing. In Montana, Democrat Steve Bullock did not sign onto the multi-state lawsuit (no Democratic did), a decision that has the potential to turn off some voters in a state where the president is unpopular.
