Fischer Leads Kerrey By 25 in Own Poll

Former Sen. Bob Kerrey, D-Neb., trails badly in his quest to return to the Senate, according to a poll conducted for the campaign of his Republican rival this week.

Republican state Sen. Deb Fischer leads Kerrey, 58 percent to 33 percent, according to the poll, which was touted in a press release from Fischer's campaign on Tuesday. Seven percent of likely voters are undecided. Only the horserace numbers were released to the public.

The poll was conducted by Alexandria, Va.-based GOP polling firm Public Opinion Strategies, which polls for a number of Republican officials in Nebraska, including Gov. Dave Heineman and Sen. Mike Johanns.

The poll surveyed 500 likely voters on June 17 and 18. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 4.4 percentage points.
