The campaigns of Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., and Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg each raised more than $1.2 million during the first quarter of 2012, their campaigns announced on Thursday. Tester, with about $4.3 million in the bank, has a bigger war chest than Rehberg, who finished the period with over $2.7 million on hand.
Tester had just over $3.8 million in the bank at the end of 2011. His new cash on hand total means he spent more than half of his first quarter fundraising total. It's worth noting that Tester's been up on TV already. Rehberg had about $2 million in the bank at the end of last year.
