Dem Poll: Inslee 38, McKenna 34

Former Democratic Rep. Jay Inslee leads Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna 38 percent to 34 percent in a new SEIU Healthcare 775NW gubernatorial race poll conducted by Grove Insights, a Portland-based Democratic firm.

It was a slight drop for McKenna, who tied Inslee at 38 percent in the last Grove Insights poll, conducted Feb. 21 - 23 -- before Inslee announced he would resign his seat in Congress to focus on the governor's race full time.

Twenty-four percent of voters strongly support Inslee in the survey, 10 percent support him not strongly and another 4 percent lean his way. Twenty-two percent strongly support McKenna, 6 percent support him not strongly and 6 percent of respondents are leaning toward his candidacy. Twenty-eight percent of those surveyed were undecided, up slightly from 25 percent in the last Grove Insights poll.

The poll was released Monday, the same day that McKenna released a paper on the state budget.

The poll of 500 likely voters was conducted March 26 - 28. The margin of error is +/- 4.4 percentage points.
