It's safe to assume Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., didn't solicit this endorsement.

During an appearance on CSPAN's "Washington Journal" Thursday morning, former Sen. Arlen Specter, who left the Republican Party to run for reelection as a Democrat in 2010, voiced his support for his former colleague.

Before a caller from Indiana could ask his question, Specter urged: "Vote for Dick Lugar!"

Locked in a heated primary battle with Treasurer Richard Mourdock, Lugar has made an effort to dispel the notion that he is a moderate Republican fond of compromising with President Obama and Senate Democrats. Being associated with Specter isn't going to help him make that case. The Mourdock camapign was quick to blast out the clip.
