Craig James's Curious Quotes

After retiring from the NFL, Texas Senate hopeful Craig James made a living analyzing professional and college football on television. His political punditry skills might need a little work, though.

In an interview with the Houston Chronicle onWednesday, James offered up some curious assessments of his rivals for the Republican nomination.

Asked about former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz, James said:

"I think he's a good lawyer, and he's lived in the courtroom. I live in the court of Real Street."

James also went after the race's frontrunner, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst:

"We can't afford to send another lawyer to the Senate chambers. The majority there are lawyers. We need balance."

One problem with that line of attack: Dewhurst is not a lawyer.
