That's a higher favorable rating than either former GOP Rep. Mark Neumann (27 percent) or state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald (15 percent). Voters were split over the presumptive Democratic nominee, Rep. Tammy Baldwin (23 percent held a favorable opinion while 21 percent held an unfavorable opinion). Indeed, following his service as governor, Thompson's name ID is higher, and in time, there is room to grow for both Baldwin and his Republican opponents. But it also means it will be harder for opponents to define Thompson -- something that shouldn't be overlooked.
